Because Lutherans understand important work. On Sunday we began the school year with a backpack and vocation blessing. We gave thanks for the many and varied faces of vocation among us: for students and teachers, parents and grandparents, nurses and laborers, artists and engineers, farmers and food workers, business owners and volunteers, retirees, caretakers, and all who offer themselves in love to the neighbor. We rejoiced that no calling is too small, no act of service unnoticed in the eyes of God. "Be Kind" tags were distributed with the reminder that "I am loved and prayed for by my church family!" May we remember this message all year long. We are better together.
