Because Lutherans care for those who care. The Rev. Dr. Carla Cheatham gave an engaging and compassionate presentation to attendees at The Caregiver Symposium last week at the Seguin Public Library. The event was hosted by Emanuel's Lutheran Church, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, and the Resilient Foundation. In addition to a slew of resources, participants left with new tools for sustainable self-care and confirmation that their challenging work does not go unnoticed. Th

Because Lutherans learn in unusual ways. Children's Church is always full of surprises on Sunday mornings. Paul Sims had the kids up to their elbows in homemade slime last week - for good reason. The lesson from 1 Samuel was about God using ordinary people for extraordinary outcomes. Kudos for everyone sharing nicely and our acolyte for keeping robes clean! We are better together.

Because Lutherans are part of the choir. On Easter morning glorious music carried us from a lowly manger to an empty tomb to a triumphant Alleluia! Special to thanks to all of our musicians for sharing their great art. As Pastor Marcus concluded in his captivating, hymn-filled sermon, "the music of God's love plays on. And we, by grace, are part of the choir." Christ is risen. He is risen indeed.

Because Lutherans are on pilgrimage. Holy Week invites each one of us to journey with Jesus through the gates of Jerusalem, to eat with him and hear his commandment to love one another, to stay and watch with him in the garden, to accompany him on the way to Calvary, to be present at his death, and to dance for joy at his resurrection. Let this Holy Week be an invitation to set your countenance on Jerusalem and, like Jesus, to journey to the Passover feast. In community, let

Because Lutherans wander and wonder in awe. The Senior Social Club, aka the Wandering Lutherans , enjoyed a sunny spring day as they toured the Painted Churches of Fayette County by motor coach last week. The bus was full, the sites were stunning, and lunch was delicious. Kudos to coordinator Donna Simmons and to our outstanding tour guide, Pastor Marcus! Stay tuned for future outings. We are better together.

Because Lutherans welcome all year long. If you have been thinking about stopping by to check out our 3C (Community-Connection-Conversation) group, then pull up a chair on one of these gorgeous spring mornings. There are so many ways to share the good news with our neighbors. A wave and a smile speaks volumes. We are better together.

Because Lutherans rejoice! Emanuel's Quick Quilters and Ladies Aid have been collaborating on an inspirational project the last few months and are excited to share the good news with everyone. Artist Geraldine Jordan meticulously hand-painted scripture on the wall of the Women's Ministry Room, making the space even more welcoming and uplifting. Thank you to all involved, and especially to the talented Geraldine for sharing her gifts! We are better together.

Because Lutherans are cheddar together. The Outreach & Service Team reports that a whopping 287 pounds ... more than 500 individual boxes ... of macaroni and cheese was collected at Emanuel's in February for the Christian Cupboard. Your donations, whether during monthly campaigns or weekly drop offs in the narthex or Mountain Street entrance, provide nourishment and enrich lives for our Guadalupe County neighbors. Thanks to everyone for your support! We are better together.

Because Lutherans journey together. Lent is a time of year when it can be tempting to retreat solo into the comfort of a warm, inviting, and orderly space. The chaos of the world can seem to much for the ordinary person. But Lent is not ordinary time. By faith, Christians walk through Lent anticipating the emergence of signs of life. Emanuel's Fellowship & Feast team has created a welcoming place in the Fellowship Hall for us to journey together every Wednesday during Lent.

Because Lutherans want to meet people where they are. Emanuel's hosted Ashes-to-Go for the 14th year in a row this Wednesday. We served with friends from Spirit of Joy, Frieden's Church, and the Compass Cooperative. (And Dave! Hi Dave!) Pastor Marcus notes that this non-traditional way to enter the season of Lent continues to be received extremely well. "Sometimes folks feel that the church is not the place for them, whether it's the physical structure or to be in worship. B

Because Lutherans love group meals. The Emanuel's Lutheran Day School Sweetheart Spaghetti Fundraiser was a night of good food, sweet moments, and abundant generosity. Thank you to all who donned aprons, provided door prizes, and contributed to the $1555.00 raised to support the impactful ministry of ELDS. The students, faculty, and families are blessed by you. (Have a little FOMO? Emanuel's annual Mardi Gras Pancake Supper is next Tuesday!) We are better together.

Because Lutherans love group photos. We especially love photos with Seguin's newest Citizen of the Year! Congratulations Pastor Marcus! To say we are proud is putting it mildly. Thank you for helping Emanuel's strive "to be the church God is calling us to be by declaring God’s love, serving others, and embracing all." We are honored to work with you everyday and delighted that the community acknowledges your enthusiasm, vision, and exemplary servant's heart. Shout out to our

Because Lutherans value education. Emanuel's enjoys a storied history with TLU. Author and church member Steve Anderson notes in Forward in Faith: A History of Texas Lutheran University that the Emanuel's Choir sang at the cornerstone-laying ceremony of the college's Main Building on May 9, 1912. Today, 114 years later, we continue to nurture and support one another. In March we partner with TLU and others to welcome hundreds of families at the 4th Annual Eggapalooza! at Bul

Because Lutherans care and are cared for. Cub Scout Pack 107 and family crafted colorful expressions of encouragement this month. Seniors at Emanuel's have been receiving these sweet reminders that they are loved and cared about. We are looking forward to worshiping together on Scout Sunday, February 8! We are better together.

Because Lutherans serve others. The 2026 Grief Symposium: Caring for Children & Adolescents, presented by Emanuel's in partnership with the Resilient Foundation, formerly the Christian Counseling Center, and hosted at Seguin ISD’s Boardroom had nearly 50 attendees on January 8. Tami Logsdon with the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas led the multifaceted conversation. We are thankful for Donna Simmons' leadership and coordination of this event, for Elizabeth Jandt

Because Lutherans gather no moss. Shout out to our Property Stewards for keeping the church campus in shipshape! Even in the dark days of winter (Is it really winter?) this dependable crew keeps us looking bright. If you have a special skill to share, or simply want to lend a hand where needed, join the group on Tuesday mornings at 8:

Because Lutherans gape in awe. Confirmation class in December discussed “covenants and promises,” and featured a ‘promised’ trip up to the balcony to hear our incredible organist, Ed Workmon, prepare for Christmas Eve services. They toured, learned, climbed inside of, and stood in awe of this magnificent instrument and its maestro. We know the congregation was just as awe-struck during worship as these youth were during their studies. Thank you to all of our choirs and music

Because Lutherans adore. As on the first day of creation, on Christmas Day the Word illumines the world, shining forth to bring all things into being. On this day we celebrate the incarnate Word, God becoming flesh to live among us in the person of Jesus Christ then and now. Emboldened by the good news of Christ’s birth, along with the shepherds, Mary and Joseph, and all witnesses to the light of Christ, we declare to the world that we have indeed seen and been transformed b

Because Lutherans share love. As we light the fourth Advent candle, symbolizing love, we reflect on how Jesus calls us to love one another as he has loved us. Advent love invites us to open our hearts to receive God’s love anew and share it generously, preparing to welcome Christ with a heart full of gratitude and gra

It’s an invitation to reflect this joy through kindness, gratitude, and worship, radiating the light of Christ to those around us. Join us Sunday morning at 10:30 as we
